What is it

An ad that draws the problem inside an interface your audience opens every day — a calendar jammed solid, an inbox stacked with unread, a banking app in the red. The viewer recognises their own week before they read a word.

What makes it work

  1. Pick a pain with a picture

Full, empty, red, late, unread, overdrawn. If the frustration doesn't map to a visible state on a screen, this archetype isn't the one and the mockup will read as decoration.

  2. Use the interface they actually live in

Calendar for time pain, inbox for volume, a banking app for money, a notification stack for attention. The closer the mock is to the real app, the faster recognition lands — the brain skips the "is this real?" step entirely.

  3. Overload it properly

This is where most people undercook it. Two or three blocks is a normal Tuesday. Jam the whole morning solid and leave the afternoon faintly filled so the eye reads "and it keeps going."

  4. Run the sequence: overwhelm, empathy, lifeline

The visual pain first, the headline naming it second, the fix and a proof number third. Flip the order and you've made a product ad nobody asked for yet.

  5. Make the headline a mirror, not a brochure

"Tired of email dictating your schedule?" beats "AI email management for professionals." One reads their mind, the other describes your category.

  6. Always hand over the release valve

Agitate hard enough with no visible fix in the same frame and people close the tab to escape the feeling. Great CTR, terrible cost per lead.

Using the attached image as the layout reference: keep the solid colour top half with a large serif headline and a rounded pill banner of proof text beneath it, and a clean white interface mockup filling the bottom half and running off the lower edge. Replace the background with {YOUR BRAND COLOR} and the interface with {THEIR INTERFACE}. Fill the top rows solid with coloured blocks labelled "{THE PAIN}" and leave the lower rows faintly filled with the same blocks washed out. Set the headline to "{THE FRUSTRATION}" and the pill banner to "{THE PROOF}".
